I've now watched Equestria girls. Spoilers ahead, if you care.
I did it. Watched it. Now I can have a real opinion based off having watched it.
I did not enjoy watching it.
I watched it while making a list of things I liked about it, and things I didn't. I was being forcibly fair. The score was 10 good to 29 bad, although some bads are just weird things that make no sense if you think about them at all.
On the positive side, there was some funny bits, and Spike continues to be the best character of all time. And it doesn't look... TOO bad visually.
On the negative side though, The ending was the biggest crock of shit the world has ever experienced, Flash Sentry can go screw himself on a street sign, and there was a potential complication that was brought up and resolved within two minutes with a Flash Sentry Ex Machina. And a bunch of niggly little stuff along the way.
And until you see Humantwi alongside Pony-Twi, you don't realise how bad the humans looks compared to ponies. You just don't. Especially after staring at them for 45 minutes.
And why in the holy hell is Granny Smith fatter than Mrs Cake? You challenge the norm with smartphones and youtube, but you can't have a lunchlady as anything but as wide as a house? It's even worse because the build of everyone else makes her like, 10 times as wide as literally everyone else.
